Arrange the digital customs declaration
Goods entering Aruba require a declaration through ASYCUDA World. Customs advises using a customs broker if you do not have system access. Submit the completed declaration and required supporting documents; Customs also checks duties and other applicable import requirements.
Register the vehicle locally and arrange insurance
DIMP registers the vehicle in the owner's name. Its process then covers road-tax payment, insurance and a number-plate collection appointment. The collection checklist includes original insurance evidence and the road-tax payment receipt.
Plan for Aruba's statutory road inspection
Government guidance requires a road-use inspection for vehicles more than three years old. For vehicles intended for private individuals' own transport, certificates are valid for two years from issue; other vehicle uses need separate classification. Our US$100 condition inspection does not replace this statutory inspection.
Documents and registration
Private-owner imported-vehicle registration file
DIMP lists the completed, signed original number-plate/road-tax application, purchase proof (Car Order), purchase proof from the importing business where applicable, and the owner's valid ID. A representative needs original authorisation and valid ID. Bring copies of the documents too.
Local inspection appointment documents
Bring proof of valid insurance to the local inspection. The government checklist also lists the DIMP vehicle-registration form for a first inspection, or the existing inspection certificate for a previously inspected vehicle. Confirm the vehicle-use category and current appointment requirements with DTI.
Confirm before purchase
Still unconfirmed for your vehicle. Check with the relevant authority or receiving agent before purchase.
- Current import-age, steering-position, damage-history, emissions and conformity eligibility remain unconfirmed. These customs and registration procedures do not establish that a particular Korean used car may be imported.
- Confirm the complete customs file and any vehicle-specific approvals before purchase or shipment. Business, rental, passenger-service and other special uses need separate registration requirements.
- The three-year inspection threshold concerns road use; it is not an import-age limit. Confirm the applicable inspection category and certificate conditions for the specific vehicle.
- Relocation exemptions are a separate procedure and are not assumed for an ordinary vehicle purchase. Duties, taxes, statutory inspection charges, local fees, freight and delivery dates need a separate assessment.
