Guatemala: road-use and registration checks
Selected Guatemala road-use requirements and SAT’s registration announcement, which could not be reconfirmed in the latest review. Current customs admission, age and damage restrictions remain unresolved; this page does not confirm that a particular Korean used car may be imported.

Right-hand steering is restricted for road use
Regulation article 21 prohibits right-hand-drive vehicles from circulating on public roads, except special cases authorised by the Traffic Department. This road-use rule does not establish whether Customs will admit a vehicle.
Meet the road-use safety requirements
Law article 18 requires vehicles on public roads to be in proper working order, equipped for occupant safety and fitted with the devices required by applicable pollution rules. Vehicles used by people with disabilities must be suitably adapted and equipped.
SAT has announced digital used-vehicle registration
SAT’s June 2026 announcement describes used-vehicle registration through Agencia Virtual using RFV Digital. The complete current registration and customs-document checklist remains to be confirmed before shipment.

Documents for registered road use
Law article 18 bis lists a valid circulation card, number plates and a current circulation sticker; the card and sticker may be digital or printed. Article 18 also provides for a valid permit issued by the competent authority. This is a road-use list, not a customs or first-registration checklist.

- Current customs admission rules for a Korean used passenger car, including model-year limits, damage or salvage categories and applicable exceptions, require confirmation with SAT before purchase or shipment.
- The effect of later amendments and constitutional decisions on older import restrictions remains unresolved. No historic age limit or general import permission is asserted.
- The current SAT customs and first-registration documents, personal versus commercial importer requirements, and any PNC vehicle-identification inspection requirements remain unconfirmed.
- Vehicle-specific emissions requirements, applicable official inspections, exceptional road-use permits, duties, taxes, freight and delivery times are not established here.
