Panama customs and registration: review required
Selected customs and ATTT registration guidance reread on 18 September 2026. The City of Panama checklist was last reviewed on 15 September and could not be rechecked this time. Current vehicle-admission and technical requirements remain unverified; municipal requirements are not a nationwide checklist.

Arrange the customs declaration
ANA's clearance procedure requires a goods declaration for the selected customs regime and the applicable supporting documents. A declaration or freight booking does not establish the vehicle's registration eligibility.
Prepare for the local vehicle checks
ATTT's published registration checklist for used vehicles from abroad lists a valid DIJ visual-inspection certificate confirming that no complaint is on record concerning the vehicle, plus a pre-registration vehicle inspection (pre-revisado).
Identify the registering municipality
The City of Panama checklist, last reviewed on 15 September 2026, lists municipal pre-registration before a vehicle plate is obtained. Reconfirm the current procedure with the municipality; this city-specific checklist should not be applied to every destination in Panama.

Customs supporting records
Prepare the commercial invoice or applicable equivalent and transport record. Value declarations, permits and other supporting documents depend on the customs regime and the restrictions applicable to the goods.
City of Panama: used-vehicle records
The municipal checklist last reviewed on 15 September 2026 lists customs pre-declaration and declaration, tax-payment proof, ownership title, bill of lading, DIJ certificate and pre-revisado, with originals and copies. Reconfirm this list, applicant identification and any third-party authorization with the municipality.

- Reconfirm the current checklist for the importer's municipality, including foreign-applicant identity, apostille and company or representative documents. The City of Panama checklist could not be rechecked on 18 September 2026.

- Vehicle-specific taxes, fees, freight and delivery times require a separate quotation and official assessment.
