Confirm the applicable roadworthiness inspection route
ZCSA applies compulsory standard ZS 560 to used vehicles intended for use in Zambia. Its pre-shipment guidance lists appointed agents in Japan, South Africa, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States and the UAE. Korea is not listed; confirm the applicable inspection route with ZCSA before shipping.
Lodge customs documents before arrival
ZRA requires import documents to be lodged before the goods reach the border. The declaration must match the vehicle, and original supporting documents must be presented when the goods arrive.
Complete Customs and Interpol clearance
The owner or person in charge must declare the imported vehicle to Customs. After Customs clearance, the vehicle and clearance certificate must be presented for Interpol verification of its identifying details; a certificate is issued if the vehicle's authenticity is established.
Registration includes a separate vehicle examination
The law requires vehicles imported for use to be registered at entry, with temporary-registration exceptions for licensed dealers importing for resale, accredited diplomatic imports and vehicles covered by the Director's authorisation. Before registration, an examiner checks the vehicle's particulars and compliance with statutory requirements.

Prepare the invoice, relevant transport or cargo documents, and any required permits for controlled or restricted goods. ZRA requires the originals at arrival; the exact set depends on the shipment.
RTSA first-registration file
RTSA lists the Customs clearance certificate/e-Redbook, ZRA receipt, CE20 declaration, release order, Interpol clearance, physical-inspection report and receipt, owner identification or incorporation document, insurance evidence, Customs confirmation schedule, and forms CNV1 and RL3.

- The approved inspection route and accepted certificate for a vehicle shipped from Korea remain unconfirmed. Korea's absence from the published country list does not establish an inspection exemption or an import ban.
- Current steering-position, vehicle-age, damage-history and technical-standard eligibility must be confirmed for the exact vehicle. No general left-hand-drive permission, prohibition or age limit is stated.
- Confirm the entry point's registration arrangements and any licensed-dealer, diplomatic or Director-authorised exception. Temporary importation, transit and permanent importation follow different procedures.
- Vehicle-specific duties, taxes, statutory inspection charges, registration fees, freight and delivery times are not quoted.
